Opening night of the performance took place on 1st of march 2008. Contemporary of Johann Strauss Carl Zeller realistically could compete in popularity of his music with the author of “The Bat”. Operettas of Austrian composer were not only produced on the stages of many theatres of the world, but also got into the gold fund of classical Viennese operetta.
Operetta “The Bird Seller” was first staged in the Viennese Theatre an der Vin on the 10th of January 1891. In the base of the plot there is a love story of simple and merry guy Adam from Tirol and his fiancйe, country girl- postman Christina. Cheerfulness of the music, wonderful melodies, interesting plot, great number of comedy situations and at the same time wonderful lyricism of the composition allows to hope that “The Bird Seller” will take worthy place in the repertoire of the theatre, which adverted to this title many years. The last time this operetta was staged in Blockade – on 30th of December 1943.
