Sergei Dogadin (Violin soloist)

Sergei Dogadin was born in September 1988 in a musical family. He began to study the violin at the age of six under the renowned teacher L.A. Ivashchenko. He is currently a second-year student at the St Petersburg Conservatoire (class of senior lecturer P. Popov). Until December 2007 he was a pupil of Professor V.Yu. Ovcharek. Prize-winner at nine international competitions, among them the International Glazunov Competition in Paris (1st prize, 2000), the International Andrea Postacchini in Fermo (Grand Prix, 1st prize and special jury prize, 2002), the International Dombrovsky Competition in Riga (1st prize and special prize, 2002) and the International Paganini Competition in Moscow (1st prize, 2005). Grant-recipient of the Russian Ministry of Culture, the New Names foundation and the International Konstantin Orbelian Foundatiobn (2006) and recipient of Yuri Temirkanov Prize (2003) and the Andrei Petrov Prize (2006).

Has toured to the USA, Germany, France, the UK, Switzerland, Italy, Hungary, Latvia, Turkey, Estonia and the Netherlands. Has performed with the Berliner Philharmoniker, the Herkulessal in Munich, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw and the Great Halls of the Moscow and St Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestras; he has worked with London’s Philharmonia Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Budapest Symphony Orchestra, the Nordic Symphony Orchestra, the Taipei Philharmonic Orchestra, the St Petersburg Philharmonic (Honoured Ensemble of Russia), the National Orchestras of Estonia and Latvia, the State Orchestra of Russia and numerous other foreign and Russian ensembles. In 2003 the BBC recorded Glazunov’s violin concerto featuring Sergei Dogadin and the Ulster Symphony Orchestra.

He has worked with conductors including Alexander Dmitriev, Nikolai Alexeyev, Alexander Rudin, Vladislav and Alexander Chernushenko, Vladimir Altshuler, Vasily Petrenko, Anu Tali, Mischa Santora, Fabio Mastrangelo, Alexander Sulsky, Norman Schnee, Dmitry Liss, Saulus Sondeckis and Mikhail Nesterovich. Performs at numerous international festivals. He has had the honour of playing the violins of Niccolт Paganini and Johann Strauss.
