Turangalîla-symphonie

 

Founded in 1936. Since 1995 it has been directed by Dmitry Liss, a representative of the Moscow conducting school and a graduate of Dmitri Kitayenko’s class at the Moscow Conservatoire. Each season the ensemble presents over seventy programmes and more than one hundred concerts. They have recorded some twenty CDs, including releases with Warner Classics International and Mirare. Outside Russia the general management of the orchestra is overseen by the agency Les Productions Internationales Albert Sarfati (France). 
Over the years, the orchestra has collaborated with the conductors Gennady Rozhdestvensky, Krzysztof Penderecki, Mikhail Pletnev, Vladimir Fedoseyev, Dmitri Kitayenko, Valery Gergiev, Andrey Boreyko, Klaus Tennstedt, Jean-Claude Casadesus, Mitsueshi Inoe, Fabio Mastrangelo, Daniel Raiskin and Eliahu Inbal and the soloists Mstislav Rostropovich, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Boris Berezovsky, Denis Matsuev, Freddy Kempf, Nikolai Lugansky, Yuri Bashmet, Nikolai Petrov, Vadim Repin, Sergei Krylov, Alexander Kniazev, Eliso Virsaladze, Natalia Gutman, Liana Isakadze, Peter Donohue, Olga Borodina, Alena Bayeva and Sayaka Shoji. 
The Ural Academic Philharmonic Orchestra has performed at venues including the Arsenal (Metz, France), the Auditorio de Murcia (Murcia, Spain), the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatoire, the Great Hall of the St Petersburg Philharmonic, the Beethoven Halls in Stuttgart and in Bonn (Germany), the Bunka Kaikan (Tokyo, Japan), the Concertgebouw (Amsterdam, The Netherlands), the Salle Debussy (Cannes, France), the Culture and Congress Centre (Lucerne, Switzerland), the Kennedy Center (Washington, USA), Le Corum – Opéra Berlioz (Montpellier, France), the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre, the Citédes Congrès (Nantes, France), the Salle Pleyel (Paris, France), the Tokyo International Forum (Japan), the Tonhalle (Zurich, Switzerland), the Queen Elisabeth Hall (Antwerp, Belgium) and Victoria Hall (Geneva, Switzerland). 
Between 2007 and 2015 the Ural Academic Philharmonic Orchestra has taken part in the international festivals Beethovenfest Bonn(Germany), La Folle Journée (France, Spain and Japan), the Festival de Radio France, the Festival International de Piano in La Roqued’Anthéron, the Festival de Musique Classique de Saint-Riquier, the Festival des Nuits de la Citadelle inSisteron (France), the international winter festival Arts Square (St Petersburg), the II Festival of World Symphony Orchestras (Moscow), the Crescendo music festival (Moscow, St Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Kaliningrad), Stars on Baikal (Irkutsk), the Eurasia international music festival (Yekaterinburg), Russian Christmas at the Kennedy Center (Washington), the Boris Berezovsky Festival (Yekaterinburg), the Denis Matsuev Music Festival (Chelyabinsk) and the Vadim Repin Trans-Siberian Art Festival (Novosibirsk, Omsk). 
The Ural Academic Philharmonic Orchestra was a co-founder of the major federal Russian project A Symphony Forum of Russia in Yekaterinburg. In the 2011-2012 and 2013-2014 seasons the orchestra had its own subscription at the Concert Hall of the Mariinsky Theatre in St Petersburg (conducted by Valery Gergiev and Dmitry Liss with the soloists Sergei Krylov, Denis Matsuev, Vadim Repin, and Boris Berezovsky and the Mariinsky Chorus and soloists). 
Since 1996 the Ural Academic Philharmonic Orchestra Charity Foundation has been in existence, thanks to which the ensemble is equipped with magnificent instruments including the Vuillaume string quartet and masterpieces crafted by Bergonzi, Guarneri, Ruggieri and other great maestri.
