Olivier Patey (Clarinet)
Born in 1981 in France. At the age of 9 started to study clarinet at the Lille conservatoire with Floriant Cadoret, then with Claude Faucomprez. In 1998 graduated with Golden Medal which had been awarded to him unanimously as well as two first prizes in the next year. These awards gave him possibility to perform as a soloist with professors’ orchestra in Lille under Jean-Sebastien Bero. In February 2001 the musician graduated to the National Superior Conservatoire of Music and Dance (CNSMDP) in Paris, where he studied with Michel Arrignon.
Since October 2001 Olivier Patey has been a co-soloist of the Republican Guard orchestra. He performed with the best orchestras such as e.g. Capitol de Toulouse, ORTF Philharmonic, Kammerorchester «Gustav Mahler» and those of Paris opera as well.
In September 2003 Olivier took part for the first time in an International competition ARD in Munich where he had got Second Prize (the First was not awarded) and also received a prize of public sympathy and an incentive prize from the Munich chamber orchestra. Since that time the clarinetist is a frequent guest of many festivals in Europe.
His victory in Munich has been confirmed in June 2005 with the First Prize at the Carl Nielsen festival in the city of Odense, Denmark. Since November 2005 Olivier is the soloist at the French Broadcasting house in Paris.
