Semyon Kotko by Prokofiev is one of those rare productions, that keeps the public in a strong emotional thrill and takes their complete attention, as it was written by Prokofiev with the ideal understanding of senses of his audience. An atmosphere of a Ukrainian village during the civil war is depicted in this opera in a distinctive way. This production puts a focus on lyrical scenes of main characters’ romantic relations, which in a very natural way complement the deepest opera ideas.
