Nadezhda Vassilieva (Mezzo soprano) Diploma recipient at the International Rimsky-Korsakov Opera Singers’
Competition (1994, St Petersburg).
Nadezhda Vasilieva was born in Kazakhstan. She studied at the conducting
and choral faculty of the Leningrad Institute of Culture. Graduated from the
Leningrad State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire in 1984 (class of Professor
Barinova). She was a soloist with the Sverdlovsk Opera and Ballet Theatre
from 1984-1986, where she performed the roles of the Angel
(The Demon), Marina Mnishek (Boris Godunov), Siebel
(Faust), Lyubasha (The Tsar’s Bride) and Olga (Eugene
Onegin). Carried out an assistantship with Professor Kovaleva at the
St Petersburg Conservatoire from 1991-1993. Mariinsky Theatre
soloist since 1993.

She has toured with the Mariinsky Opera Company and independently to Germany
(Hamburg Opera), Italy, Spain, Japan, the USA, Belgium, the Netherlands,
Portugal, Great Britain and Israel. With the Kazan Theatre of Opera and Ballet
she has toured to Great Britain, appearing in the role of Amneris
(Aida).
