Irina Cherednikova (Costume Designer) Lives and works in St Petersburg. She has staged and designed the costumes
for over one hundred productions in music and drama theatres in Russia, the USA,
Norway, Bulgaria, Latvia, Estonia and Finland. They include Rimsky-Korsakovґs
The Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh and the Maiden Fevronia,
Tchaikovskyґs The Queen of Spades (the Mariinsky Theatre,
St Petersburg), Glinkaґs Ruslan and Lyudmila (the Bolshoi Theatre,
Moscow), Gogolґs The Government Inspector (the National Theatre, Oslo),
Shakespeareґs A Midsummer Nightґs Dream (Russian Drama Theatre, Tallinn),
Shakespeareґs As You Like It (Baltic House, St Petersburg),
Shakespeareґs The Merry Wives of Windsor and Goldoniґs The
Flatterer (Comedy theatre, St Petersburg). Her numerous
awards include a diploma from the Prague Quadrennial – 1995 international
exhibition of stage design and theatre architecture, a Golden Sofit,
St Petersburgґs highest theatre award, for the costumes in Moliиreґs Don
Juan (Komissarzhevskaya Theatre) and Pushkinґs Little Tragedies
(Alexandrinsky Theatre) and the silver medal of the Russian Academy of Arts
for her costume sketches for The Brothers Karamazov (Mayakovsky Theatre,
Moscow). Theatre sketches by Irina Cherednikova are kept in the collections of
the St Petersburg Theatre Museum and Theatre Library, the Museum of Musical
Theatre (Moscow), the Museum of Childrenґs Theatres and private collections in
Russia, Bulgaria, Norway and the USA.
