Nikolai Madoev (Violin soloist)

Nikolai Madoev was born in Yerevan in 1973. In 1986 he entered the Novosibirsk Conservatoire (class of renowned teacher Zakhar Bron). In 1988 he received first prize and the special critics` and journalists` prize at the IV International Wieniavski Violinists` Competition (Lublin). The same year he won the grand-prix at the All-Russian Tchaikovsky Violinists` Competition in Novosibirsk. Madoev has also received the grand-prix at the International Cologne Violinists` Competition (Germany, 1991) and top prize at the Tokyo International Competition (1992).

In 1989 he made his sensational debut aged sixteen at the Schleswig-Holstein Festival with the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra under Valery Gergiev. European audiences were stunned by the young musician`s artistry. In 1992 he completed a concert tour of the UK. Nikolai Madoev`s performances have received high praise from outstanding violinist Isaac Stern.

Nikolai Madoev appears throughout the world with leading symphony orchestras including the Concertgebouw, Rotterdam Philharmonic, the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, Belgrade Symphony, Lubeck Symphony and the Armenian Symphony Orchestra under conductors such as Kurt Masur, Frans Bruggen, Claudio Abbado, Dmitry Kitaenko, Valery Gergiev, Vasily Sinaisky, Leopold Hager, Matthias Bamert, Richard Duflot and Nikolai Alexeyev.

Nikolai Madoev is an honorary professor of the Yerevan Komitas Academy of Music.
He regularly gives recitals and performs chamber concerts in addition to recording CDs.
