Trained at the Funen Ballet Academy before being admitted to the Royal Danish Ballet School in 1988. Joined the Royal Danish Ballet in 1989 and was promoted to Soloist in 1991 and Principal in 1994.
Made his debut in Giselle. His first major roles were in The Nutcracker and The Kermesse in Bruges. Repertoire also includes Albrecht in Giselle, Franz in Coppelia, Siegfried in Swan Lake, the Prince in The Nutcracker, Basilio in Don Quixote, Mercutio, Benvolio and Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, James in La Sylphide and Gennaro in Napoli. Has also performed in A Midsummer Night?s Dream, Etudes, Onegin, Le Conservatoire, The Flower Festival in Genzano and Legs of Fire. Danced the principal male roles in Le Corsaire, Paquita, the Raymonda divertissement, Aureole, Tchaikovsky Pas de Вeux and Agon as well as Zakouski. Has created a number of roles including the title role in Peter Schaufuss Hamlet.

Appeared as a guest artist with the Royal Ballet on the 1999 Dance Bites tour, creating a leading role in Masquerade, and joined the Company as a principal in September 1999.
Since joining the company, has performed in Napoli and The Nutcracker. Has performed in Symphonic Variations, The Concert, Coppelia and Giselle.

In the 2000-2001 season, he made his debut as Prince Siegfried in Swan Lake, the principal role in Dance Variations, the Neapolitan Couple in Ondine and Romeo in Romeo and Juliet.
In the 2001-2002 season, he made his debut as Basilio in Rudolf Nureyevs Don Quixote, John Crankos Onegin, Antony Tudor?s The Leaves Are Fading, Stephen Baynes Beyond Bach, Solor in La Bayadere, Forsythe?s In the Middle... and Nacho Duato?s Por Vos Muero.
In the 2002-2003 season, he made his debut as Crown Prince Rudolf in MacMillan?s Mayerling.
In 2003 together with Alina Cojocaru made his debut at the Mariinsky Theatre in Giselle.
Took part in the Balanchine Century anniversary programme at the Mariinsky Theatre in 2004.
