DANIIL KHARITONOV (Piano)

Daniil Kharitonov was born in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. From an early age he had phenomenal musical talent and a profound interest in music.
At the age of five he began to study piano at the Middle Specialised School of Music in Novosibirsk. At the age of six he entered first year at the Central School of Music of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatoire. He is currently a pupil of Valery Vladimirovich Pyasetsky.
At age seven Daniil Kharitonov made his orchestral debut at the Pavel Slobodkin Theatre and Concert Hall in Moscow with a Mozart concerto. At the same age, he won the Grand Prix at the Vienna International Competition and the honorary title of Mozart Wunderkind.
Daniil Kharitonov has been a prize-winner at several international competitions, one of which brought him the Golden Nutcracker award and the special prize from Kultura TV in 2010.
At the age of eleven, the young musician was awarded the honorary title of Prize-Winner of the New Russia Orchestra Award, having performed Sergei Rachmaninoff’s First Piano Concerto. A recording of this performance is available on CD.
From the age of twelve, Daniil Kharitonov has frequently appeared with the Moscow VirtuosiState Chamber Orchestra under the baton of Vladimir Spivakov and has been a grant-recipient of the Vladimir Spivakov Foundation.
The pianist has also appeared with the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia, the Musica Viva orchestra, the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine and the Symphony Orchestra of the Moscow Philharmonic.
Daniil Kharitonov has appeared at the most famous concert halls in Moscow, including the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, the Great, Small and Rachmaninoff Halls of the Moscow Conservatoire, the Svetlanov, Small and Theatre Halls of the Moscow House of Music, the Armoury Chamber of the Moscow Kremlin and the Hall of Columns of the House of Unions in addition to performances at venues in St Petersburg, Omsk, Nizhny Novgorod and other cities throughout Russia. In October 2013 the pianist gave a recital at the Rachmaninoff Hall of the Moscow Conservatoire.
He has taken part in such festivals as New Names, Moscow Greets Its Friends, Guests of Vladimir Spivakov... , Stars on Baikal, the Mariinsky International Piano Festival, Stars of the White Nights, the International Festival of Classical Music in Colmar and Diana Vishneva’s Context festival.
He has toured to great acclaim to the USA (New York), Germany, Spain, France (Paris, Colmar), Slovenia, Lithuania (Vilnius), Estonia (Tallinn), Latvia (Riga), Bulgaria (Sofia), Belarus (Minsk, Mogilev), Azerbaijan (Baku), Moldavia (Chiєinгu), Turkey, Belgium (Brussels), Switzerland (Basel), Iceland (Reykjavik) and Ukraine (Kiev, Odessa).
March 2013 saw the musician’s successful debut at the renowned Carnegie Hall in New York. American critics highly praised the young musician’s performance. Daniil Kharitonov is a nominee for Russia’s National Pride award. On 6 October 2013 Daniil had the honour of bearing the torch at the Moscow Kremlin in advance of the 2014 Sochi Olympic Games.
