Vyacheslav Pochapsky (Bass)

Born in Moscow. In 1983, he completed his studies at the Gnesin Music College (E. Novikova’s class). At the 1981 All Union M. Glinka Competition of Singers, he was awarded the special prize for best performance of the Russian folk song. In 1982, while still a student, he joined the Bolshoi Theatre Opera Company.

His repertory includes more than 30 roles. He participated in a Bolshoi and Teatro Carlo Felice co-production in Genoa of Borodin’s Prince Igor. In 1993, he sang the role of Ibn-Hakia in a Chemnitz opera house (Germany) production of Iolanta (director Peter Ustinov, conductor Mikhail Yurovsky). And in 2003, he appeared in a production of The Oprichnik at Cagliari Opera House (Italy, conductor Gennady Rozhdestvensky, director Graham Vick). In 2006, he sang Old Gipsy in a concert performance of Rakhmaninov’s Aleko in Salle Pleyel (Paris, conductor Vladimir Fedoseyev). In 2007, he participated in a concert performance of Iolanta in Verona (conductor Vladimir Fedoseyev).
