The International Ballet Festival Dance Open is the biggest ballet forum in Russia that gathers artists from all over the world. In 2010 there will be held the 9th edition of the festival and international ballet stars, famous teachers and ballet students from different countries will come to participate in the festival. Within the 9th Dance Open Festival and with the support of the Committee on
Culture of Saint-Petersburg and Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation
there will be held jubilee celebrations dedicated to the outstanding dancers of
the 20th century.
In 2010 four 100-years anniversaries will occur: 1. Anniversary of the
legend of the Russian-Soviet ballet, People’s Artist of USSR, two times Hero of
the Socialist Labor, recipient of 4 state awards of the USSR - Galina
Ulanova. 2. Anniversary of one of the best student of Agrippina
Vaganova - Tatiana Vecheslova. 3. Anniversary of a wonderful
dancer, choreographer and teacher, People’s Artist of the USSR, Hero of the
Socialist Labor, recipient of 4 state awards of the USSR -
Konstantin Sergeyev. 4. Anniversary of a wonderful dancer,
choreographer and teacher, People’s Artist of the USSR, recipient of 2 state
awards of the USSR - Vakhtang Chabukiani. They all mean a
lot for Saint-Petersburg Ballet!
Within the 9th Dance Open Festival on the famous stage of the Mikhaylovsky
Theater, there will be held a series of the jubilee performances that will be
dedicated to these 4 dancers - BALLET LEGENDS OF
SAINT-PETERSBURG.
The best soloists of Moscow and Saint-Petersburg Theaters, being the heirs of
these legends, will become participants of the jubilee shows
This project will reproduce on stage a live story of the Russian ballet. Its
main goal is conservation of the cultural heritage of the country and the
traditions of the Russian ballet school that are passed from one to another
generation of famous artists and make huge Russian contribution to the world
culture.
