Honoured Artist of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania.
Awards include: the Hope prize and the prize for the best performance of a modern St Petersburg composer`s work at the International Obraztsova Competition (St Petersburg, 1999);
first prize at the IV International Rimsky-Korsakov Vocal Competition (St Petersburg, 2000);
diploma at the Placido Domingo International Competition (Los Angeles).
In June 2001 she was selected as one of five finalists at the Cardiff Singer of the World Competition.
Born in Minsk.
Entered the Byelorussian Academy of Music in 1995.
Graduated from the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire in 2001.
Joined the Mariinsky Academy of Young Singers in 1999.

Yekaterina Semenchuk has toured with the Mariinsky Opera Company to China, the UK (Covent Garden), Germany (Mariinsky Opera Festspiele, Baden-Baden), Italy (La Scala), the USA (Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall), France (Theatre du Chatelet), Spain and Switzerland.
Has performed with the Philadelphia Opera (Carmen), Warsaw Opera (with Jose Cura), in Seoul (with Vincenzo La Scola) and with the Tokyo Opera and the Radio France Orchestra. Has performed the roles of Carmen in Cagliari, Italy, with conductor Yves Abel, Charlotte in Werther at the Graz Opera and Preziosilla (La forza del destino) at the Berliner Staatsoper with conductor Michael Gilen.
Has given recitals with Larisa Gergieva in St Petersburg (Small Hall of the Philharmonic and the Winter Palace), the Moscow Kremlin, the UK (Wigmore Hall, London, Birmingham and Edinburgh), the USA (New York), Germany (Verdi`s Requiem at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin and Pauline in The Queen of Spades at the Deutsche Staatsoper, conducted by Daniel Barenboim).
Has recorded A Russian Programme with Larisa Gergieva (Harmonia Mundi).
Future plans include a performance in Monte Carlo (Marina Mnishek in Boris Godunov), Musorgsky`s Songs and Dances of Death cycle in Oslo under Tugan Sokhiev, Verdi`s Requiem at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin and solo concerts (with Larisa Gergieva) of chamber works by Shostakovich to mark one hundred years since the composer`s birth in Europe and the USA.
On 8 April 2005 Yekaterina Semenchuk sang the Creed from Alexander Grechaninov`s Liturgy of St John Chrysostom with the choir of St George`s Chapel at Windsor Castle at the wedding of HRH the Prince of Wales and Camilla Parker Bowles.
