Yevgeny Strashko (Tenor) Tenor
Born in the Crimea. Graduated from the St Petersburg State Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatoire in 1998. Studied at the Musikhochshulen in Graz and Salzburg. Debuted as Lensky (Eugene Onegin) at the Mariinsky Theatre in 1995, since when he has been a Mariinsky Theatre soloist.
Has won diplomas and prizes at international competitions including:
the I International Pechkovsky Vocalists? Competition (St Petersburg, 1993, diploma and special prize);
the I International Bjorling Tenors? Competition (Burling, Sweden, 1994, diploma);
the German Gartow Foundation Competition (Germany, St Petersburg, 1995, diploma and scholarship);
the II International Rimsky-Korsakov Young Opera Singers? Competition (St Petersburg, 1996, 3rd prize).

Alfredo (La traviata), the Helmsman (Der Fliegende Hollander), Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor), Macduff, Malcolm (Macbeth), Lensky (Eugene Onegin), Herman (The Queen of Spades), the Pretender (Boris Godunov), Vladimir Igorevich (Prince Igor), Semyon Kotko (Semyon Kotko), Genaro (Maddalena), Anatol Kuragin (War and Peace), Sergei (Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk), Krugel (The Gamblers).
Has toured with the Mariinsky Opera Company to Finland, the UK (Covent Garden), France, China (Shanghai Opera), Japan, Israel, Italy (La Scala), the Netherlands and the USA.
